Warning, Obama will not pay your bills. He will not pay your water bill. He will not pay your electricity bill. He will not pay your gas bill. No matter what anybody tells you, Obama will not be paying your bills.

I was actually kind of impressed when I heard about the newest scam, the Obama utility bill scam. Apparently, scam artists are going around convincing people that there is some sort of federal utility bill assistance program, or utility bailout. Given the record temperatures, this is potentially convincing. Sometimes, even a few bills get paid. Of course, those end up getting reversed later. Then the scam artists start using the bank account, social security number, and other such information to get paid.
I think I’d be suspicious, but I’m a cynical bastard. This one seems fairly seductive. I’m betting that quite a lot of people are going to fall for this. Warning, do not be one of them. You will feel stupid later.
Frankly, when something sounds this good to be true, don’t you think you should look into it a little further? At least Google it? If the feds, particularly during this time when any spending is extremely contentious, did this kind of unprecedented utility assistance program (where individuals were dealt with instead of utility companies being paid directly to reduce rates)…don’t you think there would be news about it that you could find? From a reputable source?
I’m always surprised that people don’t check these things out at least a little. Things that sound too good to be true and all. Any time I get something that seems suspicious I at least run over to Snopes and see if they have a fraud indication related to it. It just makes sense.
Either way, whatever anybody tells you, don’t think that Obama is going to pay your bills. He won’t. I’m not disparaging Obama here, but he is not going to pay your utility bills.
