May 21, 2011: Maybe The Rapture Is Occurring After All

I may have spoken too hastily yesterday when I insisted that the rapture couldn’t possibly be happening on May 21, 2011. After I wrote the post I found out that Gray Sparrow accepted my story, “The Virgin Mary Tree,” for publication in their current online issue. You can read it here. Perhaps that means that the rapture is happening after all.

Me getting published is surely a sign of the apocalypse.  An unlikely event that may signal the end of days.  Just like if Lady Gaga became a nun, Charlie Sheen was awarded the Nobel Prize for science, Newt Gingrich gets covered in glitter, and Stephanie Meyer wins the Pulitzer.  Can I be sure?  No, I don’t know my bible well enough to know whether my publication is specifically mentioned in the book of revelations.  Still, it gives me pause.  Something that makes me hesitant.

So, perhaps the rapture is occurring after all.  It is still May 21, 2011 as I am writing this.  Perhaps the rapture just takes a little bit to get going.  I can’t say for sure.  Regardless though, it makes me think that perhaps I might have been a bit hasty in my scoffing.  Only time will tell.
