Are Commercial Airlines Just Flaunting The Fact They Can Do Anything? Pissing On Our Luggage?

Okay, when I heard about the most recent airline incident, I had to start wondering if the airlines are just fucking with us.  I mean, they already can pretty much land and take off if and whenever they feel like.  The tickets we buy apparently entitle us to nothing and we keep buying them and putting up with whatever happens, hoping we eventually get to our desinations, because there doesn’t seem to be a choice we can make that doesn’t put us into the exact same problems as any other airline (personally I feel like I get cornholed less with Southwest, but still that’s just less).

At this point, it kind of feels like the airlines are just fucking with us.  They already know we can’t boycott them so they can just have a game of one-upping each other as to how bad they can fuck customers and still get away with it.  Late/cancelled planes or lost luggage?  That’s not even a challenge.  United breaks guitarsDelta loses your dog.

But apparently that wasn’t enough for Delta.  Perhaps United told Delta while drinking that they were still ahead on the customer-fucking front and so Delta had to pull something else.  So what did they do?  Apparently they pissed in Sy Haze’s luggage.

That’s right.  Not only did they give him a boarding pass to the wrong place, not only did they lose his suitcase, not only did they play a game sending his luggage around to different places instead of sending it back to him, they also pissed in it.  His suitcase was soaked with urine when Mr. Haze eventually got it back.

Now, this is a new one on me.  I expect that airlines are going to ignore times they sell me tickets for and fly whenever they feel like it.  I expect that they feel no responsibility to keep track of my luggage or get it back to me in any speedy fashion (if at all).  However, I never expected them to piss in my luggage.

Isn’t this a bit over the top?  At what point are we actually going to do something about things like this?  Pissing in luggage?  Have the airlines finally gone far enough that we aren’t going to put up with it?

Delta issued a statement: “We are talking with the customer to apologize for the misdirected bag and secure information on the condition in which his bag was returned to identify a cause and offer resolution. As it relates to the actual handling of the bag, if anything happened outside of our normal procedures it is unacceptable and will be closely reviewed.”  They also insinuated that it may have been a TSA drug dog that did it.

Are we going to put up with this?  This is buck passing if I’ve ever seen it.  They piss in the guy’s suitcase (most probably) and they say they’re going to look into it and are already pointing possible fingers at people other than themselves?  It’s like they came and took a shit in his suitcase after they pissed in it.  Come on people!

But I doubt we’ll do anything about this.  We’ll probably just stick with the viral video that makes Delta look bad for a while and ultimately does nothing to change things.  This is only going to get worse as the airlines keep having to outdo each other.  What’s next?  United kills your mom?  Delta gives you genital warts?  Frankly, I’m scared to fly- and not because I’m worried about crashing.
