I defended David Wu when there was all the hubbub because he sent out pictures of himself dressed in a tiger suit, but I’m not sticking by him on the allegations that he made unwanted sexual advances. I thought he might have had something to answer for in not being forthcoming as an elected congressperson with the fact he was having issues with mental health and painkillers, but I was down with the tiger suit (tiger suits are cool). However, unwanted sexual advances are definitely something else all together.
According to the article I saw, David Wu has now resigned. Apparently a TEENAGE girl alleged that David Wu committed sexual misconduct, engaged in an unwanted sexual encounter, and/or any other vague phrases that the article used.
David Wu, that is definitely not cool. The article does not say how old the girl was. If the sexual advance was unwanted, it doesn’t matter. Unwanted is unwanted. However, David Wu insisted that the sexual encounter was consensual. If that is true, then I want to know how old the girl was. Eighteen or nineteen (still counts as teenage) would be creepy for the 56-year-old Wu, but even if the advance was consensual that is no defense if the girl was a minor.
Either way, David Wu, the girl says that the advance was unwanted. As such, I can’t stand by you on this one. If she wasn’t even eighteen, then we have even more issues, particularly if you think that it was okay if it was consensual. Since you resigned, David Wu, I’ve got to imagine though that you know that something about this was definitely not okay.
Thus, I can no longer defend David Wu. Tiger suits are cool, but unwanted sexual advances are not. Sexual advances to minors is not cool either, if that is applicable here. In fact, the society for people who like to wear tiger suits and maybe send out random pictures of themselves in the tiger suits (PWLTWTSAMSORPOTITTS for those in the know) have contacted me and formally asked me to announce that they do not support David Wu and do not want to be associated with him in any way. It’s a bad day when PWLTWTSAMSORPOTITTS wants to distance themselves for you.
Anyway, I’m rambling. Regardless, David Wu, you have brought shame on people who like to wear tiger suits and maybe send out random pictures of themselves in the tiger suits. Whatever happened in all of this, your own your own on this one. If you are guilty of what has been alleged then you deserve to be punished. Tiger suit or no, that is the only conclusion I can come to. In any case, I can’t stand by you on this one.
