I don’t get a huge amount of spam comments on this site, but I do get somewhere around one to seven a day (though some days I get more and sometimes I can go a few days without getting any spam comments). You do start to see certain trends over time. Some really aren’t that bad an effort and I’m tempted to leave them up so it looks like I have more involved readers, though some are so obviously spam that they obviously aren’t even trying.
However, today I had multiple comments that were just a link and I deleted all of them. Not simply because of the link, though usually those get deleted. I took a look at the URL for the link and I didn’t even click to see what it was. After all, when the words “Canada Goose Lover” are involved, it is a far better thing to not look any further.
Now, I’m sure that this was really just a site selling parkas, pillows, or whatever else might involve goose products. I’m sure this is the case. I am certain that this was not a goose porn site that somebody attempted to link to from my blog. However, I’m not taking that chance.
After all, there are just some things that people should never see. Even out of nothing else but curiosity. Goose porn is one of those things.
Thus, to the spammer that posted those links, you might want to change the URL of your site to something that doesn’t sound like northern yokels doing sick things to large waterfowl. I’m not even running the risk of clicking on your link until you do (incidentally, I believe I’m supposed to be allergic to down so I’ll probably be avoiding goose feathers as well just to be safe).
