Thinking Of People Luckier Than Me: The Upcoming University Of Nebraska MFA In Writing Residency

Well, it’s that time again.  Time again for me to be jealous of the people heading down to the University of Nebraska MFA in Writing residency down at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City.  People are probably starting to head down there right now.

Unfortunately, I will not be heading down.  I graduated a year and a half ago.  That made it significantly more difficult for me to be able to get away and go down.  Still, the last two residencies after I graduated I still managed to make it down for a day or two.  Just to attend graduation if nothing else.

However, for the first time since I got into the program, I will not be at residency at all.  Not graduation, not nothing.  This sucks.

Still, I’m excited for the people who do get to be down there.  I’d be there if I could.

My only hope is that I can get a few books published and have the program invite me to start coming down as faculty.  Then I could go down every time.  For now, though, it is only a dream.
