I’m Betting Adam Sandler Doesn’t Care That He Set The Record With 11 Razzies Nominations

According to an article that I just saw, Adam Sandler has set a record by getting 11 Razzie nominations in a single year (based on the movie Jack & Jill). However, I’m betting that Sandler isn’t getting too down about this. In fact, I’m betting that he really doesn’t give a shit.

After all, I’m pretty sure Sandler is rich. It’s hard to care about slights like this when you’re rich.

Beyond that, he’s Adam Sandler. It isn’t like he is exactly a serious actor here. Not that I mean that he can’t act, just that he does funny movies. Sometimes they aren’t great movies, but they’re just funny little movies. He’s a comedian. That’s what he does. I doubt that he’s gonna care about a record-setting number of Razzies.

After all, can Adam Sandler even be embarrassed? I don’t really think so. That’s his schtick. He’s delivered lines such as (paraphrased of course): “Stop looking at me swan!”, “If your friends have had relations with a sixty year old man, don’t throw them out your car…or you will die.”, and “Fuck me in the goat-ass!” I’m pretty sure he has a pretty high threshold for embarrassment. I don’t think a Razzie record is going to do it. His money will probably help.

Mind you, I have no plans to see Jack & Jill. It’s probably pretty bad. Some of Sandler’s movies are. However, what do people expect? They’re just funny little movies. They do well enough and people get a good laugh most of the time.

Now, I’m not protesting the Razzies here. I’m sure Jack & Jill deserves every one it gets. I’m just saying that I doubt Sandler will lose any sleep over this, nor do I think he needs to. Hell, he’ll probably manage to make good use of the publicity somehow. His stuff may not be high art, but he’s done pretty good for a funny guy. He’ll be making more movies…and people will probably go to see them.

About David S. Atkinson

David S. Atkinson enjoys typing about himself in the third person, although he does not generally enjoy speaking in such a fashion. However, he is concerned about the Kierkegaard quote "Once you label me you negate me." He worries that if he attempts to define himself he will, in fact, nullify his existence...
