My Life While My Wife Is In Mexico: Day Three

I have a feeling that I am not taking full advantage of my time home alone. As I mentioned before, my wife went on a girls only trip to Mexico and left me home alone. You would think I would take advantage of this in some way. So far, I have not.

For example, I spent the weekend reading. Today I went to work. Will the excitement never cease?

There has been no trips to bars, strip clubs, or any other similar wife-is-out-of-town activities. It’s not like I don’t know what sorts of things other guys do when their wives are out of town, I do have friends who have wives that have gone out of town and left them alone before. I just haven’t done anything.

I also have not worn a white oxford shirt, socks, and underpants and gone sliding across the hardwood floor while Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” plays. That seems to be a big thing people do when home alone, but I guess I’m just not a big Risky Business fan. Also, I hate Tom Cruise.

Suddenly being beholden only to the dictates of my own moral compass, at least until my wife returns, being subject to no possible disapproval for any of my actions short of my actions getting the notice of the authorities, you would think I would take advantage of the situation and DO something. However, I have not.

Well, almost nothing. I am taking advantage of my wife’s absence to systematically prey upon her stash of ice cream treats in the freezer.  Woo-hooo!!!

About David S. Atkinson

David S. Atkinson enjoys typing about himself in the third person, although he does not generally enjoy speaking in such a fashion. However, he is concerned about the Kierkegaard quote "Once you label me you negate me." He worries that if he attempts to define himself he will, in fact, nullify his existence...

Dave. If I was home alone with no child and no husband…I’d probably be living a similiar existence. In fact, when you have a husband and a four year old, you dream of that existence. (at least a day of it 😛 )
