Let’s Build A Fake City On The Moon

I was just thinking…let’s build a fake city on the moon. I’ll explain.

Let’s face it, someday we’re all going to be gone. Some future civilization is going to find whatever is left from us and try to figure out who we were. Why not make them think we were better than we actually were?

How many sci-fi works talk about cities on the moon? We’ve clearly been hoping for this for a long, long time…but we’ve never managed to pull it off. For whatever of the various reasons (probably cost, feasibility, and return on investment for the most part), we simply haven’t even come close.

But why do future civilizations have to know that?

Let’s blast some trash up there in a way that makes it look like we had a moon base at some point and it was destroyed in some catastrophe. We’ll manage to both get rid of some trash and con future peoples into thinking we were much cooler than we actually were.

It’s a win/win situation.

Some people might think that this is a waste of time. However, if we aren’t actually going to have achievements this cool, why not at least make people think that we did? I’m all for actually building a moon base, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon.
