People are talking because Colorado has apparently collected so much marijuana revenue that it may have to give money back to its citizens. Laws in Colorado restrict how much the state can collect before money must be refunded to citizens. The marijuana revenue has apparently hit that, though the state is apparently working on a way to avoid a refund.
However, though money sounds good at first, I’m all for them keeping it. We’ve done this before on other issues, letting the state keep money that would otherwise be refunded for schools and other things. It’s cool, the money was advertised when we voted as benefiting the state in certain ways. I don’t see a problem with letting it go for that. I don’t need the cash that bad.
Of course, my opinion may be influenced by the fact that the $30.5 million potential amount to be refunded would supposedly break down to $7.63 per adult. I’m not particular excited about less than eight dollars.
They can keep it.
