I do not generally care for yams or sweet potatoes. I especially don’t care for them candied or canned or in any way preserved. I can dig them steamed/baked fresh with a little butter once in a while, but not much and only once in a long while. That canned candied stuff with marshmallows on top is right out. However, I will try most any vegetable if it is purple.
For example, I got a bunch of purple potatoes when these were at Sprouts recently:
That’s why my wife and I bought a purple yam. We don’t even know how to cook a yam and have no idea what we’ll do with this one. We just wanted to try it. We’ll probably just bake it, toss on some butter, and hope for the best.
