Gaddis Is Brilliant But Exhausting

I’m reading A Frolic of His Own right now. I’ve previously read The Recognitions, JR, and Agapē Agape and Other Writings. After all of this, one thing occurs to me. Reading Gaddis is exhausting.

He’s brilliant, but reading him is still exhausting. It’s like running a marathon at top speed.
